There are a lot of recipes for acorn squash to try but baking is one of the most favorite ways to cook acorn squash. You can stuff with very simple ingredients like vegetables or nuts inside or just bake your acorn squash as only ingredient. Your acorn squash will be very tasty and sweet in flavor.  And here is the very simple baked acorn squash for you to easily follow.

Ingredient:

  • Acorn squash – 1 medium
  • Butter – 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar – 2 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup – 2 teaspoons
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven, 400oF is a suggestion.
  2. Because acorn squash is very firm and large. The cutting of an acorn squash is hard a little. You may need a very sharp knife and sturdy hands. Hold it firmly with one hand and hold your knife with other hand.
  3. Place your knife from the stem and carefully cut your acorn squash in half.
  4. Use a spoon to scoop the seeds inside. Your acorn squashes will have large cavities after that.
  5. Use your knife again to score inside the acorn squash then make a cross-hatch pattern.
  6. Put your squash halves side up in a roasting pan and add a bit of water to the pan. This step will prevent your squash being burned and dried in the oven.
  7. Spread the butter inside evenly. Half of spoon for each halve cut, season with a bit salt, sugar and maple syrup.
  8. Now it’s time for baking. Let your acorn squashes sit in the oven for an hour. When the top of your squash is brown, it means your squash is cooked through and the squash flesh is tender and soft.
  9. It’s done and ready to serve.
