  • 1 litter of canned beef broth (or you can simmer the pork bones to get water base).
  • 1 red shallot, removed shells, double cut.
  • 6 petals of anise, 3 pieces of cinnamons (7.5 cm for one), 15-20 peppers, 90 ml fish sauce, 15g salt, 250g sliced beef tenderloin.
  • Fresh “pho”
  • Lemon juice
  • Served ingredients: thinly chopped spring onions, bean spouts, coriander, red chili, lemon

Recipe pho bo

Step 1: Firstly, clean aromatic herbs. Pour the canned beef broth into a large pot, add water, onion, ginger and coriander to the pot then boil. Dry anises and cinnamons under the medium heat in 3 minutes until they release the fragrance. Then place them all to a cloth, tighten up and put to the broth. When it boils, lower the heat and simmer in 15-20 minutes

In the meanwhile, add fish sauce, salt or other spices such as sugar, MSG, etc. depending on your preference.

Step 2: The second step, slice beef thinly, if you want to cut it faster and easier, you should place in the freezer for 20 minutes. You just need to sprinkle the boiling broth on the serving bowl to make beef done.

Step 3: Soak fresh pho into boiling pot. Then transfer to the serving bowl.

Step 4: Place some pieces of beef on the bowl. Sprinkle bean sprouts, chopped onion springs and basils on the top.

Step 5: Pour boiling broth on the bowl. Wait some minutes for beef turning half cooked. Time to enjoy! You can serve with chili paste, lemon or fresh chili based on your interest.
